Not sure if you are referring to me as Quackers ... but I am certainly not the scribe. That said, I dont necessarily share your (and others) disdain for the scribe, I think he does a pretty decent job covering the Saints and I do purchase his paper on Tuesdays and Fridays just for their college basketball coverage.

I dont, however, support his attack of the casual fan. Because when it comes right down to it, if it wasnt for us casual fans, then he wouldnt have anything to write about as noone is going to pay him to write about something no one cares about.

Does a media type have more access to the team and administration that most fans, absolutely. Do a lot of fans have unrealistic expectations and lack some understanding of the innerworkings of the team they support, sure. But, it still is just college basketball we're talking about. It doesnt take a degree in quantum physics to understand and intelligently discuss hoops.
