My guess is that Wyland doesn't have the power even if he has the interest to OK a UALbany TV game.

I believe you underestimate the power of UAlbany and its probable impact on the sports entertaiment package the area has to offer.

The good news is that UA is a State school and can be counted on to screw things up...like firing a coach during the recruiting season and then finding out they have to post the position for something like 90 days to fill it.

The bad news is the UA is a State school and at some point in the not too distant future will have their sports model in much better shape. They are a much better program today than last year and their budget, my guess, is 3 to 4 times that of Siena...and more importantly has no real threshold. What happens when UA wants the Pepsi on the same night as Siena in a few years and can strike a better deal due to financial strength?

The state u's are not going away and will only get bigger and better. No, UAlbany deserves Siena's respect and to ignore it as a legitmate contender for the local sports franchise is an error in my opinion. Local tradition is nice, comfortable; however, the future will be determined by budgets which in many ways is unfortunate.
