The times i had to wait meant being sent to my room with words like "Wait until your dad gets home". That meant that what id done was serious enough for a serious session with the yardstick. This happend mostly as a young teen when spankings needed to be heavy enough to be effective, and waiting an hour or maybe 2 knowing what was coming was probably as bad as actually getting whacked.

When the time came once dad had heard what id done and fetched the yardstick id hear the call "CALLUM" from my room. That meant coming out and bending over the back of a chair that was set up most times when getting the yardstick. Rest needs no explanation, boy it used to hurt!
