Subject: The greatest compliment I ever received

After waiting months for my very own pirated copy of CoolEdit - and fighting hordes of sea-ridden bandits - I finally cajoled Asif into giving me the disk. I installed it that night and played around with it until I had to leave to go somewhere (I think it was Illinois, I can't remember). After weeks (two) of staying up until midnight (way past my bedtime), I finally began to learn how to use the program. Sure, I needed to ask Farsheed some key questions, such as "How do I record stuff?" and "How do I go to that place where I can put stuff together?" I began sampling left and right, stuff like digable planets (have you heard of them, bet you haven't) and perfect dark. I was perfectly content to make my music sans bass until Farsheed told me that it was essential for music, so then I had to find some of those types of samples. Finally, I discovered that you can generate tones (I used the preset lazy ass that I am) and phonepad samples. With this knowledge, I was prepared to create my first songs, and that I did. After about another two weeks, my first demo was ready - it had three songs, and a remix of the last. Plus, one of them was composed entirely of videogame samples - I was so proud. I brought the disk in the next day - under the moniker of MC Ganesh (I know MC's don't really make the music) - and popped it into the CD player. Farsheed laughed in my face, saying I had no sense of timing, that none of my stuff matched up, and that horace silver would roll in his grave (along with his father) if he knew what I was doing with his trumpet samples. That night, I came home and bawled my eyes out - I have not used CoolEdit since (I hate sampling). Anyway, today after a stimulating Multicultural Day, I decided to listen to my chef d'oeuvre once more, and to my surprise, SEFONIAS (yes, that much respected critic of music) thought it was Farsheed. The much-famed musician was flabbergasted (though I think deep inside he was touched that he had been compared to the likes of me), but I was the one who was doing backflips and parafusos in the hall. It was the greatest compliment of my life, and I'll never let Farsheed forget it.

Wow, that was a long message.
