Subject: Queen's Physician Says Prince Philip's Cause of Death Was "Old Age"

Prince Philip passed away on April 9 at the age of 99, and the Queen's physician has reportedly revealed his cause of death. According to The Telegraph, via People, Sir Huw Thomas (head of the royal medical household and the physician to the Queen) noted that Philip died from "old age."

Prior to his passing, The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII hospital to be "treated for an infection" and ended up staying in hospital for 28 days before being released back home on March 16.

The royals announced his death in brief but emotional statement:

"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss."

Queen Elizabeth also released a personal message on her 95th birthday, saying "I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate. While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world."

She continued, "My family and I would like to thank you all for the support and kindness shown to us in recent days," she shared. "We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life."
