Check out Stuart's main site for ways to make a 640x480 quadra SE... that should get you started on ideas.

Some combination of those things may get you to what you want to do. I would be supprised if it were impossible to get some kind of PPC functional inside the case. If you can get a 640x480 screen up and running, and find a way to power your x500 board inside a Classic case, you could probably get something to work.

I think you'd pretty much have to start with an empty case and "engineer" everything else. A 630 harness and power supply with 5 and 3.3 volt leads would be necessary. some way to make the internal CRT display at a useful resolution.

It would be cool as hell though. Keep us abreast of your progress if you get into it!

I've been thinking it would be fun to do Stuart's 640x480 trick and have a compact mac just as a SCSI drive cage and external grayscale "instant message and e-mail" monitor. Widen the floppy hole and rig a Zip drive inside, keep a few HDs in there. It'd be fun to have it sit next to the Quicksilver G4 as a little contrast !

Good luck!

Al
