In order to shorten my SCSI cable last week, when I put it back together last week, I have always received the floppy icon with the flashing question mark. Before I shortened it, it worked perfectly. After more than 2 attempts to freshly recrimp the cable, I again received the floppy icon with a question mark. I went even as far as crimping it opposite to what is shown in Takky's site (could't remember how I had originally done it). All to no avail. I have used 2 different SCSI cables to do this test : all to no avail. I know that all of the SCSI drives work because each one of them has booted my system from my external SCSI.
I know that the hard disk is booting up because I am hearing it. When we booted from an external source, we could not find the internal hard disk on the SCSI chain. There was no SCSI conflict: one was 3 and the other 1.
Is there a possibility that my power cables are not delivering the consistent power to my internal hard disk? The only thing that I did notice was that my power for the hard disk comes from number 2 pin on the a/b and in the same position on the m/b. Despite the fact that it should be the red wire in number 1 pin on both the a/b & the m/b, instead of position 2, the system had worked perfectly before.
I looked to see that there were indeed 50 little connector pins in the SCSI connector. Any ideas????

Ted
