The FPU - which is working, most assuredly - doesn't show up much unless you're doing a lot of FPU-intensive stuff. It'll show up in benchmarks (Speedomter 4 tests the FPU quite nicely), but it won't show up in daily use except maybe in stuff like your WWW browser, which might conceivably use FPU calls to do JPEG decompression.

Programs like Photoshop will take advantage of it, and some games might want an FPU, but for the most part, there isn't a lot you need the full 040 for. (Notable exception: *nix can be a real bear to set up on LC040s due to a bug in the FPU emulation calls of the chip. More info on netbsd.org for the terminally curious. Then again, who would run NetBSD on a Mystic anyway?)

The FPU upgrade, IMO, is a bit of a waste of money if you have to buy the full 040, but it's certainly worth doing if you already have the chip. If you end up clock-chipping it, experience says the full 040s overclock a bit better than the LC040s do, too.

Side note: I was beginning to wonder how long this board would go without a post :) I think two days is some kind of record...
