Subject: Short CD-ROM drive needed for Taco

The Taco project (G3 in CC) is proceeding OK, albeit without the LCD stuff which is still in the USA, thanks to USPS.

I had been thinking us utilising the space under the main chassis cross-piece (ie that usually occupied by the CC's logic board) for a floppy drive which could be accessed by removing the rear port panel.

However, it occurs to me that it would be far more useful to have a CD drive there. The problem is that the space is only about 6.5" (7" at a push) front to back.

I have an ex-iMac DVD drive that will fit fine, but it has a proprietary sub-miniature combined data/power connector that I can't get an adaptor for.

So, ideally I'm looking for an IDE CD ROM drive, with a standard IDE connector, and which is no more than 6.5" front to back. Does anyone know if such a beastie exists, please?

TIA,

Stuart
