I tried doing this and you do need to have a video source that supports a composite sync (or have an adapter that will convert the Hsync and Vsync to composite).
It worked, but there was problems with the signal where it made everything over-bright. Adjusting the controls on the analog board, etc. didn't really help much. This was almost a year ago I was messing around with this and after asking many people questions and getting many helpful ideas I never did get it working entirely right. If you want, I can send you or post here all the info I have on what I did and how I did it.
