The classic requires composit sync, the G4 DOES NOT OUTPUT composit sync. Some ATI video cards were capable of composite sync, The G4 is not. I know where to get a composite sync adapter, though. It's $50, but if you are going to ruin a G4 cube, $50 probably won't be such a big deal to you. http://www.si87.com has the adapter you need. You are better off if you call them. (they'll make sure you get the right one that way.)
