The original 5400 was 120MHz- it's largely identical to the later 180 and 200MHz versions, just with a lesser speed 603e. The motherboard design is identical to any other Alchemy board.

With misuthiku's help, I found my 3.3v regulator was actually soldered backwards. When I corrected this problem, the 5400 board worked fine. No automatic shut downs.

Perhaps higher speed 5400 boards consume too many watts for the CC's original power supply? The board I tried was stripped of nearly everything except the onboard ram. It had no cache or additional memory in its slots, this can reduce the power draw of the board.
