Hi Stuart,

These are some old benchmarks I made using Norton System Info, when I first started clock chipping my CCs. These are all using the 040, not the PowerCard, and as Nortons 3 won't run on OS 8.1, I can't do new comparisons.

These numbers indicate fairly much what these Macs feel like to use - they are noticably snappier in every respect. If you have the devil-may-care attitude and steady hands to do it, it's a very cheap speed increase at less than $20.

As Nortons v3 is pretty old, the base system these numbers refer to is a Quadra 700! If I still had an original CC logic board and a day to fill, I would do a new set comparing to that, but of course most guys here would already know how slow an original CC is...

CC575 FPU 43mhz 1.78
CC575 FPU 41mhz 1.68
CC575 FPU 33mhz 1.34
CC575 33mhz 1.10
Quadra 700 1.00

My experience has been that these logic boards are not stable above 41mhz.

Jeffrey G
