1. The annode connector is very similar to b/w Macs; the 'solid' connectors will spring a little. You may be able to get a pair of fine-nosed pliers behind the rubber, to press the two connectors together.

2. Having an assistant helps, but is not essential. I use two flat-bladed screwdrivers to free one side first, then hold the chassis clear on the first side while repeating the process on the second side. Having the chassis stripped down with no logic board or drives, and hence lighter, makes things easier.
