Although I am sure you did not like being whipped as a child, I am also certain you are now glad that your parents disciplined you and "raised you right."
I think being mouthy is a reason for a husband to spank his wife. This nonsense that if dinner is 10 minutes late, etc., etc. the wife should be spanked is crazy IMHO. If my wife is working hard and something happens, or she miscalculates the
amount of time required I am not going to spank her. I am glad she is working hard to prepare delicious meals for me. This is just an example, similar things are not spanking offenses. Maybe, if it was a continuous occurrence and amounts to willful disobedience, but not for just a mistake.
With my wife the 4 Ds were what resulted in spanking: Disrespect, Disobedience, Dishonesty, and doing something Dangerous. My judgement is that I spanked less than most DD husbands, but my spankings were real and the butt was sore.
