(o, hell, im tired of typin two messages, im just gonna play them both in one)
He nickered. Wind, calm down. It's alright. The Lady-- he flicked an ear towards Miriana --is... eh... my Bonded, I guess you could say. I knew her a time ago, when she was younger, but I was chased off by her father when I ripped open his leg and crushed his arm. He glanced at Miriana.
She shook her head. The movement was so slight, it could almost have been a trick of the light, but it was there.
He turned back to Wind. Don't ask why. I... I can't tell you. The Lady has her privacy to consider, after all.
She giggled softly. "Knight, don't make it sound like I'm some criminal or something." The humor faded from her face and voice. "My father can no longer hurt me. I'm far out of his grasp. I have the Book and now I have you." She threw her arms around Black Knight's neck, but couldn't even reach the top of his neck.
He nuzzled her. So how about that ride?
She pulled back, grinning. "Yeah, alright." With amazing grace, considering his size and hers, she leapt up onto his back. The movement had been so quick, you had barely had time to see it at all. "We'll be right back--" She paused. "Um, Wind, isn't it?"
Before Wind could answer, Black Knight turned and galloped off, did a few large circles, jumped some logs, then cantered back.
Miriana slid off and walked over to where she had left her pack--and the Book. She ran one hand down its cover as if caressing it. She looked up at Black Knight, a tear in her eye and threatening to fall. "Orian h-had to stay b-behind," she said, her voice cracking. "H-he shoulda come with m-me, b-but he insisted on st-staying." She stared at Knight a moment, then burst into tears.
