I don’t know if it’s common but I think a lot of families that practice first time obedience use some form of DD or age regression.

DD can take many forms and styles. Some parents may do full babying with diapers and everything else. Others may choose Pull-ups only. Some may do a light version by using cartoon briefs, overly childish pajamas, supervised baths, 5-point harness car seats, etc etc. Some families, like mine, do a combination.

Many Christian families who do FTO believe that kids should be kids. The world is trying to make them grow up faster than they should. Many believe that children should earn their rights and independence. Until they earn their freedom they should be under complete control of their parents. That’s where DD and age regression comes in.

As the child ages they want to rebel. To help remind them that they are just children and to reinforce their position in the family and community families use DD. Sometimes the reminders are subtle, like a subconscious reminder. Think of cartoon underwear on a preteen or a booster seat when the kid doesn’t need one. The kid doesn’t know why and may think it’s normal.

You can see this for yourself on YouTube. I can think of 3 Christian YouTube family channels that I suspect do a form of DD. I’m not going to mention channel names, do your own research!

The first one has multiple videos on their older kids in 5-point harness car seats. Do 12 year old boys need to be in 5-point harness seats? No.

Second, the channel has a preteen boy wearing Pull-ups. In one video he’s laying down on the bed talking to his parents about his new braces. Sticking out of his pajamas is a Pull-up. You might say he’s a bedwetter. But why is a preteen wearing something meant for toddlers instead of a product for preteens like Goodnites?

Third, two preteen brothers wear cartoon briefs, Goodnites, and if you look at their other social media pages have supervised bath time. What 12 year old is picking out little boy underwear? For the Goodnites, look at the background windows, it’s still daylight out. Why are they wearing the Goodnites hours before bedtime?

Lastly, look at Ruby Frankle who was arrested for child abuse (she 100% deserved it and went way overboard. She is a monster). Some articles say the police found diapers.

Let me end on a positive note. Notice how the kids behave? There isn’t any eye rolling, talking back, sas or anything. They are obedient. They aren’t looking at the camera, they are maintaining eye contact with their parents which is a FTO rule. They remain silent while instructions are given. They smile and do their work cheerfully. They love to cuddle when most kids their age have outgrown it. Most of all they are happy.
