Subject: In Defense of Trenton

The attendance wasn't great. Not the nicest city to visit.

But one positive, I think, is that the court turned out to truly be neutral. Think that Niagara might have been champ had this thing been held in Buffalo this year? Think the Stags would have beaten Siena had the game been played in Albany in front of 10,000 Siena fans? Can't be sure, but the inherent advantages for some teams in certain venues was not evident in Trenton. End result? Regular season champ wins. That doesn't happen very often.

That is nowhere near enough reason to ever go back there. It was a disaster, plain and simple. 2,700 for the FINAL!!!

This was the first time the tourney was ever held here. Give the MAAC a chance to promote it....get community and school groups involved, etc. It did not help when the local team, Rider went out quickly. I say the neutrality of the site was good for the tourney. I'm anxious to see what will happen here in a few years if the MAAC keeps Trenton in the mix.

Rider doesn't have the fan base to consider revisiting trenton.

That is a shame considering Rider was a number one just last year and have some real good players in Muniz and Johnson to build a very good team around. Don Harnum had this team playing very well at the end of the season. I just don't get it. Where are the fans??

Good question. I felt that Rider "moved up" in joining the Maac and there reputation is not of a top team, but more of program that has a lot to prove. I questioned the MAAC's decision to add Rider; the league lost LaSalle, Army, Holy Cross and Fordham and added Rider, Marist and Siena. Siena is a team that adds to the reputation of the league but Marist and Rider so far have not distinguished themselves.

I thought the MAAC had some great crowds in the 80's at the Meadowlands, and why not? Some 20 million people in the NYC area, plus six of the 10 MAAC schools are local schools.
Yeah, it's a big place, but it's close.
