Subject: Trenton, the Stags, and even a little gonzo

hey all- was there all weekend- too bad about the ending...would have been nice to give MC a real fight...two very telling stats jumped out from both our sat and sun games...we were beat on our offensive boards something like 10-12 less rebounds than our opponent...I'm not talking about total but just offensive bounds...this was a foreshadow of what was to come monday night - don't know the exact stats but we had a lot of one shot trips down the court (missed that is)...also the fact that we don't have a go to guy really hurt us this game....we couldn't buy a bucket when we realy needed one....on trenton...i liked the arena...it's not in a great area ( warehouses and even a jail close by) but there is a pub being built as we speak...the arena size is nice about 8500 total cap....center court scoreboard/video board (what's missing at harbor yard) ....it's too bad that rider and the MAAC seems to get very very little press in the area...the local paper that they delivered to my room had a small blurb about the MAAC games...I had to search to find the article....the other paper did have some coverage the first day but after Rider lost it ( the coverage) was very poor....decent support from each school but practically none from the local crowd...I'm curious if any other schools had spring break this week (FU did)...this obviously cuts down on the amount of students in attendance....they should keep this in mind if and when bridgeport ever gets a bid in for the MAAC tourney...our luck would be that they would schedule it the same week as spring break!
let's hope for a NIT bid!...tix already on sale....hope to see everyone at the arena next Monday or tues....Go Stags!

one final thought - as much as most of us think Gonzo is a pretty showboat classless coach i did witness a side that most of us would normally not see...after the double OT win vs Niagara he went out of his way...actually ran down the Niagara's tunnel to specifically congratulate some of the niag players for playing such a competitive game....the players were not to responsive to it considereing they just lost a heartbreaker but nonetheless it was a nice gesture on Gonzo's part.....
