Subject: Bracker Buster Saturday

I hope the MAAC is pushing Manhattan and whoever ends up having the second best season next year for the bracket buster games if it is continued. MAAC gets some publicity and recognition. Plus it would be interesting to see how we stack up.

I agree, the MAAC Should pursue this, and we should try to get as many schools involved as possible. I think the schools are picked at the beginning of the year, as it counts as an OOC game. Our MAAC Champion and all NIT representatives would be the logical choices. Here are the breakdown of this years teams and leagues.

The 18-team field will feature four teams each from the Mid-American Conference, Missouri Valley Conference and Western Athletic Conference and three from the Horizon League, one from the Big West Conference and from the Sun Belt.

The other teams are Gonzaga, Tulsa, Creighton, Ball State, Bowling Green, Illinois-Chicago, Detroit, Kent State, Fresno State, Louisiana Tech, Hawaii, Marshall, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UC Santa Barbara and Western Kentucky.

If Northern Iowa played in it the Stags would surely qualify has they are a better team for sure!
Looks like the Stags will have a bye with 1 more win and a 2 seed with 2 wins

I've heard that Iona was aggressively trying to sell themselves as a legit team to be part of this next year (which is true). Last I heard (though this is going back a couple of months now) is that our potential foe could be the College of Charleston. However, my info may be dated here, as I have heard nothing new on it in a while.

The bracket buster is really a attempt of ESPN to market games it was already commited to. For instance say the Hozizon had a contrat for a certain number of games and so did say the Missouri confence, ESPN just matched the 2 conference members up, satisfied its contract and called the event bracket buster. In other words a made for TV event. Sice the MAAC doesn't have that type of agreement with ESPN, don't look for a MAAC team in the bracket buster anytime soon
