Re: Battle for 1st Place - Tie Breaking scenarios -- Insider, 08:46:36 02/28/03 Fri
Only fitting that Iona plays Manhattan in the last maac regular season game on sunday at 6:30. Could be for the whole ball of wax. Niagara hosts Rider tonight and FF fans should be rooting for the broncs. I think Niagara will lose one of the last two games, but Iona will have no chance at Manhattan. Sorry stag fans.

Re: Battle for 1st Place - Tie Breaking scenarios -- Stagman, 08:59:36 02/28/03 Fri
Absolutely amazing that the Stags can still win the regular season title.
With the tourney one week away, here is how each MAAC team has fared over the last 5 games:
Siena 4-1
Niagara 4-1
Iona 3-2
Fairfield 3-2
Marist 3-2
Rider 3-2
St Peters 2-3
Manhattan 2-3
Canisius 1-4
Loyola 0-5
Ladies and gentlemen, I think we're going to have another wide-open tourney and though byes will likely cause a top 4 team to go to the NCAA's, it certainly isn't guaranteed, and it certainly isn't guaranteed that the top team will go.

From those numbers It looks like any team can win it except Loyola and Canisius. Hoevers, Canisius always does well in the Tourney, and I think they are strong enough to beat anyone.
Right now it looks like Rider is the team that is most likely to pull an upset.

You're missing something there -- SaintlySaint, 09:16:24 02/28/03 Fri
You need more than that. You need a combination of SPC beating Siena and Niagara losing more than one of its home games.

I do not think so -- JoeStag, 10:20:53 02/28/03 Fri
SS,
Do not need for Niagara to lose, because Niagara and Iona would be tied for 3rd, and Siena would be 5th.
- Both Stags and Manhattan's record vs Niagara and Iona is 2-2, so it goes to next level
- both 1-1 vs Siena, goes to next level
- SPC and Rider would be tied, and both Stags and Jaspers were 3-1 vs those.
- all other teams Stags and Jaspers are undefeated against.
Am I right on that????????
It will come down to a Coin flip...... Call HEADS

I think JoeStag is right -- mb, 12:06:20 02/28/03 Fri
MC and FF would 13-5. Iona and Niagara would 12-6. Siena 11-7. And STP and Rider wouyld be 7-11. MC-FF have identical records vs. all those combined tied teams.
