Congratulations to the players and staff on a good year so far. This team was within a couple of plays, here or there, of getting either 20 wins or 15 wins. Personally, I had them winning 19. JS, who was the best preseason prognosticator?? Did anyone have 17-10?? I have reservations regarding the tourney because of their play the last 2 weeks, but all in all they seemed to have turned the corner, and had a successful season so far. They need Iona and Marist to win tomorrow to get the 1st seed, that's a longshot. Why oh why did they play that game in the snow, what a f--- up!!!

It wasn't snowing in the arena. They were flat and unprepared.

Good year, lots of great wins.
The road wins were fun.
Coaches and players did the job.

Using tie-breaker precedent from the 2000-01 season, if Iona wins, Fairfield gets the 1 seed--no matter what. The MAAC will use a tiebreaker that works, per se; this will be the one that breaks the three-way tie if NU and Iona win Sun. The head-to-head records between these 3 teams (along with their seedings due to this) are as follows:

3. Siena 3-1
4. Iona 2-2
5. Niagara 1-3.

Both Fairfield and Manhattan went 1-1 vs. Siena. But with Fairfield having a better record vs. Iona than Manhattan, Fairfield becomes the 1 seed.

Trust me, I know, because if it was done the way the MAAC tie breaker site explains, NU would have received the 1 seed over Iona that season.

Coincidence that soon after, Shawn Brennan, MAAC Asst. Commish that season, gets Iona AD job.

[> [> Congrats 17 wins & this team is exciting -- JoeStag, 09:44:49 03/02/03 Sun

I had predicted 15 wins this year, but I was on the low side. OMM, your 19 was on the high side, so i think many people had the Stags pegged for atound 17.

While we did throw away a few games, we won many more games in exciting, gut-wrenthing fashion. It was a very exciting season, and the team was fun to watch. The overall hustle and focus was there for most of the games, the defense made me proud to watch them. And the best thing was that Gai and Goode are both a highlight shows themselves. Gai's block shots in particular give our team a personality that the team latches onto.
