We got lucky. If Canisius had anybody healthy on their bench besides Ferris we would have lost this game.

We will need to play better if we want to beat Manhattan in March

What I noticed about the first half was that Canisius scored inside consistently. Spruill, the Griffs massive inside presence, repeatedly went to the hoop against Gai and scored. His bulk allowed him to get to the basket and prevented Gai from blocking his shots. The Canisius strategy clearly was to go inside as only two baskets off of jump shots were forthcoming during the first half.

I agree with the above posters that we could very well have lost this game. Canisius is a dreadful outside shooting team and the inability of its shooters to score from the perimeter was an important factor in the win. Downey was the Griffs' only player with manifest outside shooting skills. Dux is a great foul shooter and passer and runs the team very well but not a good shooter based on what I saw.

Gai made aggressive offensive moves which I had not seen from him before. He is ,however, very tentative handling and passing the ball. This is an area where improvement is needed. Anybody know how many blocks he got last night?

Bell did not play.

5 blocks for Gai, 9 total. He is trying to block almost every shot, but the ball manytimes is at its peak and he has to let it go to avoid goaltending. The problem is that the opposing team has a chance to get the rebound and putback (remember Siena??). He needs to be a more effective rebounder, but gets pushed around by bulkier opponents.

Ajou still seems lost, not very effective. Still more of a perimeter player rather than a force inside.

Garcia is the glue of the team, great job in 1st half. Was taken out in 2nd half for some reason (??) and was very upset about it. He then played only sparingly. Does anyone have any idea why?

Kudjo came alive in 2nd half, won the game for us with his 3's and nice drive down the lane at the end, then iced it with foul shots.

Todd and Goode not very offensive tonite, too busy on defense? Nick consistent. Thomson becoming more of a bench warmer, not living up to expectations.

WE STILL NEED A CONSISTENT SHOOTING GUARD!!!! Bell? MVS???

Refs called a pretty decent game, only one really bad call against us when I think it was Garcia got called for a travel instead of getting basket and foul.

Poor attendance night (again...). I said 2K, just missed by 79.

I thought Thompson played much better than in the last several games. he had 4 blocks and a bunch of offensive rebounds. We need his rebounding badly. Gai continues to have trouble on offense against frontlines packed in the paint. He just can't get open often enough for a clean pass.

I think Garcia was taken out for defense, rebounding and fatigue.

We'll need effective outside shooting the rest of the way to open up these zones.
