Re: Greatest MAAC Conference Game.... ever???? -- Sobro, 10:38:02 02/13/03 Thu
The first half was a classic and one of the best and most evenly played halves I have seen at any level. The refs murdered the second half by calling 38 fouls after calling 19 in the first half.

I remember the game well. It was 1978. Joe DeSantis and Mark Young's Junior Year. HC was ranked in the top twenty (12?). The loudest basketball game I ever attended. During one segment HC goes into a zone at the student end of Alumni Hall with their hands over their ears. It was that loud! There was very little defense played by either team and the shooting was unbelievable. It was an ECAC game not a MAAC. George Blaney was the coach for HC. In those days we had a great homecourt advantage due to fantastic student support.

The final score was 123-103 and Holy Cross was ranked 12th
in the country. I agree it was the loudest crowd noise I have ever experienced. The only other game I remember that approached that intensity was in 1975 when we upsetted nationally ranked Boston College 78-74 at a jammmed packed Alumni Hall.

I believe the score was 124-104, and HC was 14th.
