Subject: Hoop Scoop on TOT and Gonzalez

Hoop Scoop online talking about some of the coaches that could move up. Kinda sounds good to read that one of Gonzales's biggest wins was against Fairfield..... the publicity is coming back. Here is an excerpt about TOT and Gonzales:

Manhattan head coach Bobby Gonzalez guided the Jaspers to one of the biggest wins of his career last night against Fairfield to give the Jaspers their own 10-game winning streak. As a matter of fact, this is quickly becoming not only one of the best mid-major rivalries in the nation (Fairfield upset Manhattan in the Metro Atlantic Post Season Conference Tournament last March and, as a result, prevented Manhattan from going to the NCAA Tournament), but also it has a Pitino-Krzyzewski influence. Remember, Pitino almost hired Gonzalez twice when he was at Kentucky and a year ago at this time Fairfield head coach Tim O'Toole was the only former Krzyzewski assistant coach who hadn't gone on to become successful at the Division I level. Well, all that has changed now, as O'Toole appears to be perfectly positioned to get the next Atlantic-10 Confernce job that becomes available and both now appear to be ready to move up the coaching ladder in a hurry.

It would be a blow to the university, IMO, if TOT ever left for an A-10 job. With all the talk of building a program, imagine if he left for a place like St. Bonas or URI. No way.

There has been a high coaching turnover in the A-10 over the last two years, so there won't be more than maybe one opening this year. And that's only if UMass decides to sack Lappas. Odds are, though, he'll get a third year. And there won't be more than maybe 1 or 2 Big East openings. Unless this Fairfield team does something crazy, like advance to the Sweet 16, TOT will certainly return for another season.
