Subject: Record by Month...

All in all, not a bad January:

Nov: 0-2 .000
Dec: 5-2 .714
Jan: 7-3 .700
Feb: ?????????
Mar: ?????????

12-7 isn't awesome but it certainly isn't terrible. I know we lost a BIG home game last night (couldn't get the big rebound) but we're in decent shape. We just need to go 5-2 or 6-1 in February and 1-0 in March (regular season) to ensure a decent seed in the MAAC and perhaps a post-season invite. Thoughts?

Assuming we win the 6 "winnable games on the schedule & only lose @ Manhattan & @ Niagara we wind up with 18 wins. Certainly a respectable season. The problem I see is that if we don't win the Conf. Tour. we don't get an NIT bid.

I don't think, under those circumstances we'd have enough "Quality" wins to impress the NIT. That combined with losses to Manhattan(assuming they beat us down there), and 1 loss to Siena & Niagara in the conf. wouldn't make us very attractive to the selection committee. I believe the blow out loss @ DePaul & the Char.Sou. loss would also hurt.

Moreover except for the Manhattan game attendance #s haven't been dramatic & that may be the final nail in any NIT hope. So if we have any post season hopes we better count on winning the tour. in Trenton!!!

Looking at all of the conferences at this point, there are an awful lot of teams that are in the same situation as the Stags. Those that finish very strong will get NIT bids. Those that don't won't. If FU ends up with 19 wins after the MAAC tourney, I think they'll be right on that bubble with a bunch of other teams. The win over UNCW is nice, but it would have been nicer to have hung close against the big boys. That would show some potential for an upset and might make for a more marketable game (which is what the NIT is looking for. Marketable = $$$).

Let's hope that we are in a position to discuss this possibility a month from now.

NIT like the NCAA is going more and more towards rewarding good RPI's , If FF only loses two more times before the MAAC tournament your final RPI will surely be in the top 100. A top 100 RPI would almost assure FF at least a spot in the NIT going into MAAC tournament. Not a bad spot to be in. I’m hoping Siena can sneak into the top 100 before the tournament also. Right now it looks very promising for Siena in that we have only 3 road games left at bottom feeders Loyola, Rider and Iona ;-) and the rest are home, A good chance we can go into the MAAC tournament with only 4 maybe 5 league losses tops

Are you taking your defeatist NIT talk over here now, since you face certain ridicule on the Siena board, should you start talking NIT over there?

Eh, monsieur?

Hopefully we won't have to discuss an NIT bid, but if we do the fact that UNCW has dropped out of some of the top 10 mid-major polls isn't going to help our "quality wins" situation. If we don't win the conf. tour. a post season bid may be problamatic.
