since when has it been a "requirement"? they had homecoming before they had football. also, ask providence how they do without the "draw" of football for those events.
also, if the only way people will come back to campus is for a glorified high school game against marist, then our alumni relations office isn't doing a great job.
do you mean to tell me that the supposed interest in football couldn't translate favorably to much needed increased support of the men's hoop team? please!!

The bottom line is that it is a non scholarship sport that draws 2000-3000 people on Sat. afternoons before the hoop season starts.

Me, please enlighten me and please be specific. What do you mean when you refer to "much needed, increased support for the men's hoop team"? I'll be certain to be sitting down when you respond.

it was in reference to the supposed thousands of fans that would be affected by football's possible demise....i simply meant that focusing our fan base and marketing efforts on actually filling the arena would be helpful (it is our "top priority sport" the last time i checked). we can sit here and talk about how great it would be to get 5,000 for a weekend game, but let's face it, if we did the place would still only be half full.

do you think and extra couple of thousand in the arena would help the atmosphere?

1. Would these student-athletes have attended Fairfield if there was not a football team?

2. How much tuition revenue does Fairfield get because the players attend? More than the football team's subsidy?

1. Ckeck ypur minority population. What percentage of that is mad eup by football recruits?
2.Check the geographic distrbution of your football roster. re there states represented that normally would njot be represented at the school.
3. 4 healthy recruiting classes of 45 - 50 players generates a million net to the school in tuition revenue, federal money, and state money.
