I only can tell you what I heard Huessler and Cummings say over the Webcast. We took only 3 shots in the first 5 minutes of the game..... committing 5 turnovers. We shot only 4-22 in the first 16min of the half.

I had heard that Todd had some early turnovers, and was taken out in the first couple of minutes. The team then struggled against the zone with Goode at the helm. Todd did not come back until the 11:30 mark.... and then Ajou scored 6 big points. Stags finished with 14 T/o's in the first half.

It was a combo of both Turnovers and Bad shooting.

MSG Viewers, is that how it looked?????

I watched the game and it was awful. I believe O'tooles gameplan was to pound it inside, and we forced 4 or 5 very bad passes in a row inside that were picked off/stolen by Siena. Siena also decided to trap whenever the ball went into the corner, and the result was almost always a Fairfield turnover. In my opinion, Siena lost in part to poor coaching. The stags never really found an answer for the trap, but Siena stopped trapping.

While poor shooting was a factor, lack of shooting due to turnovers was the real issue, especially in the first 5 minutes. Outside shooting was a factor as the stags went 0-6 from three point range in the first half, but most of those shots were taken after Siena built the lead. Some were in the final seconds of the shot clock, I don't think our game plan was to shoot many threes.

Look for Manhatten to trap all night against the stags. We'll see if they learn how to handle it in practice this week.
