Subject: Post coverage

We are getting more and better coverage from the Ct. Post this season thanks to our improved play and winning season. A word of thanks to Mike Puma especially and Chris Elsberry for their fine work.

The point of my message however is to say that your increased coverage is helping you to sell more papers. Here are some examples of why this is. At the Manhattan game I was looking around only to see nothing but males surrounding me, I would have had to go up or down a few rows even to get to a female. The ages ranged the gamit, from kids thru the seventies. Many were older men in their sixties or better. Most were not STAG fans, as they we not cheering much or at all, but were there because of the media hype from places like the Post. I'd bet that at least 70% of those at this game were males.

The guys right behind me who were in their 30's were screaming with 3 minutes to go (down by 1) that we've got to win so that we can get the Post headline tomorrow, no kidding! On the way out, a bunch of late 60 males were talking, one thanking a friend for inviting him to the game, the first one he'd seen here, and wondering what the paper would say about the game tomorrow.

Most males, when they pick up the paper go first to the sports section first, including myself. My sons read nothing but the Sports page (unfortunately), and if it weren't for the Sports section, many people wouldn't even subscribe to the newspaper. So, increased coverage will help us both out. Many people in Fairfield county, who may be interested in the UCONN teams may not be able to get to their games for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is ticket unavailability or distance or cost. Fairfield basketball may be the next best alternative, therefore, for all of the above reasons. What will bring them to The Yard is not only a winning team, but increased media coverage, especially from their local newspaper. It will help to sell more papers! Mike and Chris, I hope you'll read this and show it to your editor also.

STAGAL,

Well said. You should email Puma and Elsberry on your comments this morning..... everyone likes to hear positive reinforcement. I will try to do the same.

I have always liked both Puma's and Elsberry's articles. They are interesting, informative and usually provide an angle thats worthwhile reading and discussing..... probably the best writers in the MAAC. Yes, they have had some inappropriatly negative stories, but that happens when you just don't write about fluff.

I am happy with the type of coverage we are currently getting.

Will do. Do you have their email address or could you advise them of my comments?
