Subject: Expectations - Now and Then

My beginning of the season expectations were 15-12 (4-5 in OOC and 11-7 in the MAAC) ...... rememeber many of us were worried if we would win more that 1 of the 1st 6 games without the Dengs.

Right now I think we are 2 games ahead of my original expectations, giving us 17 wins. Since we are half way thru the season, it is reasonable to think that that we should overacheive another 2 games in the 2nd half....... Giving us 19 wins. Right now I think my expected range is:

19 wins - Great, probably a top team in the MAAC, as we would finish 10-3
17wins - Good , can probably get into the top 4, as we would finish 8-5
15wins - Disapointing, as we would finish 6-7

We have a total of 6 games remaining against Man., Siena & Niagra. The remaining 7 are against Iona, St.P., Loy., Marist, Rider & Canisius. Assuming we split the 6 most difficult games & go 6-1 against the teams we should beat that leaves us at 18-9 overall. I think that's reasonable.

Now if we win 2 of the next 3 I think we might reasonably look for 20 wins, on the other hand if we lose all3 we're probably in the 15 to 16 win category. The next 3 will tell us a lot about this team.

The team went 9-5 through the first half of the season. No reason, at this point, not to believe that they could come close to that in the second half and go 9-4. I think 18-9 would be a reasonable goal.

That would mean a 14-4 MAAC record which would be spectacular and virtually guarantee a #1 or #2 seed. 8-5 would be okay, but given a 5-0 start, would cause somewhat of a letdown (though a 13-5 MAAC season would still be darn good).
