Subject: Reminder to AD Doris and Truth George - doubters!!

Just doing some Sunday AM review of the board and I see that I was dissed a while back by Truth George - I offer just one point in my defense of my argument of "it takes time to build a powerhouse" - whereby Truth George "assumes that all successful NCAA coaches had winning records at the start":

Coach K - as an example of powerhouse building - had FOUR straight losing seasons at Duke when he came on board - people called for his head too... glad the DU powers that be(ESP their brilliant Athletic Director) gave him the FIVE YEARS necessary to build a winning ACC season.. sound familiar????? hmmm? hmmm? see below - and stop assuming Truth George - you know what that makes of one ...

Mike Krzyzewski was introduced as the head coach of Duke at the beginning of the 1981 season. Few knew that he would become one of the most prolific, respected coaches in NCAA History. Coack K came under scrutiny fast as he found little success during his first few years as coach of the Blue Devils. But Atheletic director Tom Butters stuck with him and after the additions of Duke greats Tommy Amaker and Johnny Dawkins to his lineup success was just around the corner. The Bobby Knight pupil reached his first final-4 in 1986- the first of a string of seven final fours in nine years including championships in1991 and 1992.

1981- Duke Head Coach- 17-13 (6-8)
1982- Duke Head Coach- 10-17 (4-10)
1983- Duke Head Coach- 11-17 (3-11)
1984- Duke Head Coach- 24-10 (7-7)
1985- Duke Head Coach- 23-8 (8-6)

Try to get your facts right everyone once in a while. Reread you own post. Coach K did not have four straight losing seasons, He went 24-10 his fourth year as a coach. Everyone recognizes it takes at least 4 years to build a program. This is TOT FIFTH year. Nonetheless, I support O'toole wholeheartly, however since he has yet to string together back to back winning seasons I'm not ready to crown him the best coach in the history of the NCAA like you are. You're opinions are ludicrous, fly in the face of facts and show an emotion that could only be demonstrated by a family member. You still didn't answer my question. Are you Tim's wife, sister, mother or cousin?

In the ACC he did not have winning season until his FIFTH year... so cut this staff some slack -

and you may want to re-read my original post that stated "TOT will become one of the best coached in the NCAA".. not that he is now, brother...get YOUr facts straight..

For the record, I am neither TOT's wife, mother, cousin, aunt, grandmother, etc... nice try - that is the problem with this board - if someone shows a little passion, a little contrary opinion in support of the coaching staff or players, it is deemed to come from a "family member" - perhaps that is the reason no one speaks out in support of the team on this board...

later dude..

To the best of my knowledge, Coach K's 1st head coaching job was not at Duke. I believe it was at Army(could be wrong), but I know it wasn't Duke. Put the cap on and stand in the corner.

He played at Army under Bobby Knight. He was also Army's head coach. I believe K succeeded Knight when he left for Indiana.
