Thanks, Soup...if I'm not mistaken Detroit beat Cincy 2 out of 3 last year, or maybe even swept 'em.

I give you two credit. Nobody in the country cares about these two teams, although long tenured as far back to 1881 (no shit), they are off all radar. having said that, as a little boy I loved the tigers and even had 5X7 B&W pics of all my heroes. Kaline, Bunning, Freehan, McAuliffe, etc. I have no idea what brought me to them.

I started as a Tigers fan around 1960, when I found WJR Detroit on the radio. George Kell, Ernie Harwell and Ray Lane made it very easy for me to be a Tigers fan.

His father CY Williams was the Tigers Chief Scout from the 1940s through the 60's. He signed Harvey Keene , Al Kaline et al to Tiger contracts. Jimmy also played Class D ball in the 1960's. He also writes baseball editorials for the Buffalo News, once in a while.

I became a Reds fan about the same time you became a Tigers fan, Soup...I listened to 700 WLW with Waite Hoyt doing the play-by-play...the seeds of fandom are planted deep, are they not ?

That's great stuff from you. You're the real deal Tom. A true genuine fan. I respect the hell out of that. Baseball is in our blood.
