Yes, that's the extent of it. First, it was missing out on the Big East, assuming that was a possibility. Then, it was not trying to join the A10.
Then, they let the most successful coach in the recent history of the program walk and replaced him with a D-2 coach.
But, the final blow was unrestricted player transfers and NIL money.
Now the MAAC is not really a D1 Conference. To act as if it is, is simply ignorance.
In the early 2000's, we could dream of winning the conference and maybe pulling off a NCAA upset.
Now, there's really no purpose to Niagara playing D1 basketball. There's little, if any, ambition to be even a good MAAC team.
The NCAA has basically killed the low/mid majors. They are irrelevant now.
