Unlike hoops, Niagara hockey, at least, continues in mediocrity, hovering around .500. or so every season.

My question is, can hockey do any better than that ? More programs enter the mix every season as pucks increases in popularity at the collegiate level. That also means that "dilution" occurs which of course lessens the number of top notch talent available to programs.

Does Niagara stay with Lammers or try to upgrade the program with a new coach by offering a talented assistant from a national programs such as Boston U., Michigan State , Michigan, etc..

One idea I have is to try to lure away the top assistant coach from Western Michigan University , which won the National Championship last year. That would raise Niagara's hockey profile and recruiting prowess , immensely.

Your thoughts ?

Jason Herter is his name and hockey is his game. He is the Head Assistant Head Coach at WMU. He would upgrade Niagara's hockey program to an instant contender in the Atlantic Hockey conference through his higher profile and recruiting abilities, in my opinion. That of course could lead to regular appearances in the NCAA tourney and Frozen Four.

Jason Herter looks like he'd be a great hire, Soup, but I have to believe Niagara's sticking with Jason Lammers. Hovering around the .500 mark at NU is cause for celebrations and contract extensions.

Lammers is only leaving if he wants too. He'll be here as long as we have hockey
