Actually, I'm not sure. I've seen the ?guy? post on practically every board I have ever visited. It may be one person or, more likely, a name used as a sort of running gag throughout the internet. He has posted at least once over at the FMF (though I haven't seen the name here).

dialec'tical mate'rialism:
a form of materialism, developed chiefly by Karl Marx, noted esp. for the application of the Hegelian dialectic in its philosophy of history.

(I had to actually get a dictionary for that definition. Wasn't too sure myself exactly what it meant) The Hegelian dialectic (if I remember correctly) is that when any new idea or action is created, the opposite will also be created. In between these two poles there is supposed to be a middle ground. With materialism, all phenomena, including those of mind, are due to material agencies. So, I am assuming (and possibly incorrectly) that dialectical materialism would be used to regulate the minds of the people through a control of the material wealth. I could also believe that Marx viewed Communism as a middle-ground theory (pertaining to the Hegelian), effectively removing the polarity so all wealth would provide a middle-ground.

Hell NO! Actually, I spotted the question (I think bnimble posted it) on the 1st page of this forum and thought after 6 months someone might want to know what the words meant. Rummaging through your old posts sorta reminds me of rummaging through your guest bathroom cabinets. Feel a weird sort of sneaky guilt.

I couldn't agree more! I don't think verbally so if an idea comes up that I can't understand easily, it may take me months to get a grip on it. (Like the meme thing) I tend to think that those who use the long, complicated, unpleasant phrases are doing it to impress someone.
