If everyone felt as you and I do, my friend, there indeed could exist ideal, glorious interactive communities everywhere.

Alas, there seem to be so many that consider our viewpoint to be, well, Satanic (I recently actually had that term applied to my individualistic views), that I fear you may be right about the Collectivists having won. I hope that it's only battles that they've won and not the War.

As you know, I have one serious hope: That, once e-commerce is well-established and widespread, the free-market and it's value-for-value principles will operate and be revered everywhere. And governments, at least as we know them, will fall.
