Subject: Do YOU Believe T&B Have a "Contract of Depravity?"

Granted, Todd and Blair were written as pretty depraved characters. Todd was the leader of a gang rape and it was hinted that he was a serial date rapist. Blair was a homewrecking gold-digger who tried to kill her rich old hubby when the jig was up. But I don't EVER remember the two charter members of the Lonely Hearts Losers Club, the Most Pathetic Club entering into a "Contract of Depravity."

I DO remember them vowing to create the loving, stable family THEY never had for their children. I DO remember them wanting to have the loving relationship that TODD's parents never had. I DO remember how they bonded over the hypocrisy of Blandview's so-called "Good Guys." But I NEVER remembered where they embarked on a pact to ENABLE each other's worse character traits. If ANYTHING, Todd and Blair were TOUGHER on each other when they gave in to their base natures. Todd's reaction to seeing Blair roll around on the floor with Patrick, a guy who was only USING her and didn't give a damn about their daughter, was to kidnap Starr. Blair tried to take Starr when Todd decided he would play with explosives to frame Patrick rather than take care of Starr.

Now Todd and Blair HAVE respectively entered into a "Contract of Depravity." But they have done so with OTHER people.

Todd entered into one with Téa Delgado, the OTHER charter member of the "Most Cynical" club and then they cynically teamed up to indulge in their mutual spite and anger at BLAIR to strip her of her maternal rights to Starr.

There is absolutely NO doubt if you viewed this rancid pairing that BLEVIN was a "Contract of Depravity." There was NOTHING romantic about their relationship whatsoever. There was absolutely NO foundation of love or respect or even friendship and camaraderie that sparked Kevin and Cassie. Blair was a particularly desirable notch in Kevin's belt, because he viewed her as another of TODD's acquisitions. And if BLAIR had been written a little more honestly instead of being DelSnottofied, you'd know that the major attraction KEVIN held for Blair would be that he was Little Miss Perfect's hubby and that Blair didn't mind tweaking Kelly after Kelly killed Brendan and stole Ian not to mention fucked around with Max on Blair.

If anything, Todd and Blair embarked on a "Contract of Higher Ideals" with each other. The problem is, being two depraved characters, they have a hard time living up to it, to each other's bitter disappointment. But it is still a laudable goal. It is a goal MOST functional people share. It's only in MALONE WORLD that someone wanting to have a happy family and loving relationship with a spouse who is also biologically the parent of their children is a sick, obsessed psycho.
