Subject: I just cannot do it

On other boards I have been reading about people metal detecting in grave yards. I just cant do it. Yes, graves are dug six feet into the ground, but the casket takes up three feet of it. Ground errodes, ground shifts... When we burried my dad, I had wanted to put him beside his mother, but I could not because she is now on a slant, ground that was once flat is no longer flat.. my grandfathers grave which is next to her is on more of a angle....

In areas where the weather gets cold in winter, warm in the summer, I believe people tend to forget that the ground will push things upwards during time, and it would not take long for a item to be pushed close to where it is just a few inches below surface.

I do not think anyone really wants to dig a grave.. (though in the past I have come across some arrow head hunters who rob Indian graves)

That is one of the things I really like about everyone who does metal detecting.. they have great respect for those who have walked before us... not many venture into a grave yard..
