Though it may be true that the combine uses the pressure sensitive tape along with a laser to correctly get the players time (provide a link) ... however for all of you who are idiots ... in Track and Field everyone cannot start 'whenever they feel like' ... so their times are fully automatic (FAT) and factored in is the reaction time of the athlete (which you do not get at the combine) ... I do believe that the NFL should step up and have fully automatic timing, not only because it is free from human error, but it also measures the athletes reaction time (an important factor because it measures how fast your twitch muscles can react and in football, the faster the better)
