As for the questing, I'll explain a bit. I don't know whether you have Dagda ever let the horses that want to go on quest fail, but you should only let the good RPer's, and vocabulary, and make sure they write in paragraphs and not many spelling mistakes. Argh, sorry but I can't seem to type things in order right now. Basically, have certain things to quest for -- an ability (magic or otherwise) a creature, a companion (they, or if someone volunteers, can play it) etc, etc. (Not a lot of idea yet.) Through my RPing experiences, anything that presents a challenge, and is hard to win, is definitely something I want to participate in.
It'd be easier to make quests harder with humans, since they die and such, but I suppose you could have horses encounter menacing monsters along the way (as I did) and roll a die to see how much they are damaged. Let's say, use two dice, or just one die, and the lowest number, let's say 2, would be only minor or not damage. A 12, would be critical damage, or even death if the situation looks really bad. Players should be encouraged to play more than one horse (though I don't).
Understand any better? I hope so, I can't really put it into words very well.
As for the points system, just say you'll grade them on different things (creativity, vocabulary, details, etc) to make the posts more enriching, and have horses try for the highest rank.
