I first met Stacey in high school while working out at the gym on the square. She was riding the bike next to me and we were both panting and trying to get through our workouts. She started telling me jokes and stupid stories to try to keep our minds off of working out. She had me laughing so hard I could barely bike! We immediately became friends. She was so funny and as many of you have said always smiling. We made a pact to meet at the gym every night from there on. That was right before my sophmore year in HS and after that we were friends for a long time. She got me into playing tennis and working out and to this day I know I would not be as health conscious if it was not for her. I think about that all the time.
Since a lot of funny stories seem to be around Stacey and her cars, it made me remember a time when we decided to go to champaign to go shopping for the afternoon. It was the first time I was alowed to go out of town with a friend who could drive (I could not drive at the time). We took off for Champain and had just made it up the exit ramp before her car started smoking and died right there on the ramp. She was so mad, but somehow seemed to laugh about it. We ended up hitching a ride with an elderly couple to a service shop where we tried to get the car fixed.
Stacey and I remained friends through her first year at OSU and I regret that we lost touch. She was a true friend and a wonderful person.
