The mare's dark and dancing eyes flicker over the group. Each got their own personal response, ranging from disdain to faint interest, the latter directed at the newcomer. All newcomers were greeted in this way though; the touch of youth's innocence that lingered in the barely-out-of-foalhood equine offered a certain eagerness and curiosity at such situations. Although she was quickly learning that it was not always such a good thing. Off-topic.

"Welcome to Death Valley," she languidly offers. The new mare was intelligent, this was certain, and it didn't seem right to make a distinct first impression upon her. Not quite yet.

[> -hatred is her life- -- Cattivo, 23:15:44 05/19/03 Mon [1]

[OOC- I'm sooo sorry! If you wonderful people are still here, please forgive me! I've been sick for about three weeks now, exhausted, and busy with schoolwork...I'm back, though, and won't be gone this long again! At least -- not without warning.]

The dame's gaze became curiously locked upon the Arabian animal as her mind processed his tediously cordial words for her; these prolonged introductions held no interest for the aspiring female, although she was prudent in not allowing the disdain to shape either her features or silky return.

"Yes," she murmurs, smiling, "always such a pleasure, True Evil." The momentary silence became the delicate female, her dial tipping slightly as she prepared to continue her speech. Yet, her vocals were stilled once more as the second newcomer slipped less than smoothly into the discourse. The dame claimed a moment for contemplation, her optics turning gradually to the young male. She, of course, could not tell of her true history -- that would spell certain disaster -- and so a bit of improvising was necessary; it took two seconds to come to this realization and three to do the actual improvisation.

"Greetings, Perseus. It is a pleasure to meet you." She allowed herself an affable laugh, her gaze claiming a contradicting glint. "Is it the tradition that every newcomer be so soundly studied? Well, I hope I can live up to the test. My homeland, Perseus, is very far from here. It is one I hope to see again, if the Fates are kind; I was forced to leave under circumstances that I wish not to explain presently." Pain crossed her lovely gaze, her dial dipping as if to hide her grief. Quickly, however, it passed, and once again her dial was raised, bravely smiling as her attention expands to contain both Perseus and True Evil. "I am blessed with no ties; a mixed blessing. My parents died years ago, leaving me with not even one sibling to share the beauty of life with. A spouse I have never had, and children I have none. All that ties me to my past are dear memories, and a land that lies far from my reach."

-And vengeance,-
she gave silently in addition, her mental self purring with satisfaction as she watched the form of the imposter who had altered her, twisting and buckling under the weight of her hatred. That took place in one corner of her mind. In another, the demure dame merely blinked, and her seen self blinked as well, the sadness that had appeared to cling to her like a wet cloak sliding aside to be replaced by sincere interest.

"Two sons? My, that must be quite splendid... Are they here?"

Another? Her gaze darted to observe the new one, a female. In her former life as a human, the dame had rarely gotten along well with other females; she had had a territory to protect, and males were so much easier to control. -This is a new life,- she reminded herself. -However temporary it is, a few changes may be in order.- So the raven dame greeted Carcajou as politely as she had the males, forcing herself to even smile a bit as she returned the verbal salutation.

"Thank you."
