I read with amusement Dwayanu's reply to your question. I can assume from the answers given by Dwayanu that he/she is a current member of Solar Logos. I don't know if Dwayanu was part of Sunburst in the 1970's when it began & then went into decline. I was there & I would say the word collapsed is a better word to describe what happened than downsized.
Sunburst began with the noblest of intentions & many wonderful people came to live & work there. The vast majority of people lived there many years & are no longer there.
An empire was built through collective hard work but Norm always held the purse strings. Somewhere along the way most of the members started treating him as an all knowing guru. If you didn't see it that way you either stayed quiet or left.
Eventually the insanity resulted in his claims of being Jesus Christ. Everyone was questioned as to their beliefs & those who did not belive this to be true were immediately kicked out of the community.
This was at the height of his substance abuse. The community possessed stockpiles of semi automatic weapons & Norm had also molested at least two young girls.
I left because over the course of several years, Sunburst it had changed from a healthy spiritual community to a very dangerous & dark place to live.
Anyone who claims that people left because they could not stay the spiritual path is lying or ignorant. Sunburst's spiritual path changed (disappeared is more like it). To remain on the spiritual path it was neccessary to leave.
