From another board:
On Sunday night, I went to a free classical concert at Mother center which was held for the neighbours to help lift up their spirits at this present time. In the orchestra was a fellow devotee among others - a wonderful violinist that has performed with prominent names...such as the famous leopold stowkowski (sp?) and now plays in Yanni's orchestra. Sadly, her friend, David Lee, also a musician in Yanni's orchestra was on the flight 11 that crashed in the WTC and she dedicated this evening to him and the many who died and their families.
She spoke about the fear that has gripped the nation and world, and the need to do the opposite, to fill our lives with love and emanate this to each other. The music they selected was cheerful, powerful, sometimes patriotic, and uplifting and reverence. It began with the national anthem and ended with God Bless America. On the last piece, everyone held a lit candle, the devotees, the neighbours, and the monastics present. It was beautiful to see, on the sacred grounds of mother center, many little lights glowing in the night...just like the light of each soul. When it ended everyone walked out still with the candles lit, as I drove down Mt. Washington, I could see the neighbours walking home with their lit candles.
