Side note: It is ironic that Ram Dass cites the discoveries of atoms, quarks and galaxies, then in the same breath decries looking at reality only through the lens of science - the same science that discovered the things he marvels at. (Had we looked at the world "only through the lens" of religion, we would never have made those discoveries.)
