So after "bargaining with Divine Mother" for some extra time, Yogananda decided that the best way to bring his mission to an end was to die in the middle of a banquet held in honor of somebody else? This is "appropriate"? This is the "most public and visible opportunity" available to a divine being? This is the only alternative to dying "on the toilet"?
No: I'm sure Yogananda's fecund imagination could have come up with something more public, more purposeful, and much more appropriate - in short, something that would make at least some sense to someone other than an adherent.
