Subject: HELP!!! nightmare with my computer

I removed the NAV and the computer started randomly shutting down. I finally got so upset with it that I did an unconditional reformat on the hard drive. It is an IBM and had windows XP installed on a partition. Now I am trying to use Win 98 se and it will go through the whole installation but when windows tries to boot it turns itself off. Then it goes through a scan because it was illegally turned off and it tries to boot again, when it gets to the windows 98 banner screen it turns off again and the whole sequence starts over.
I let it go and it did this over and over for an hour and a half.
I know it must be some setting that NAV sabotaged but I don't have a clue where to start looking.
Any ideas???
Jane
