Auden is a creation. If I remember correctly, Ialon made him out of souls taken by those who were tortured and killed by Lief. Auden was quite literally born from the pain of others. He knows that quite well. Any life he takes adds to his power. He'll eventually be able to overthrow Ialon and buy his freedom. That is why HE keeps fighting....

And Jayke... He's the bastard child of Yafein. He has a father figure there to watch out for him. He doesn't get sent out as often as me and Auden do because his father genuinely cares for his well being.... I don't have anything.
