that all depends on where they came from- there are several sub-groups, and several different types to those that look similar.

at first there were just animals and other races- the first cross between the two happened when one of Treyvan's friends died. the first races to join- cats and elves. it was caused by the sudden shift in the magical energies of the world. an entire race was born from that. different things caused other races to come about- such as blessings from gods, other magical cataclysms, things like that. just depends on who you ask as to what version of the stories you can get.

same with centaurs, satyrs, fauns, minotaurs, banshees, chimeras...... different things cause them. its hard to say exactly how. anyways, the people of Adeon.... they got a former goddess from Ephsidel to bless them so that they could share traits with the animals. they formed their entire society on those abilities. some of them could do everything within their power at a very very early age, and learned everything they needed to know in life from spirits- which is how Sylena became a general of the entire army at the age of eight. she was specially chosen to be able to do that. its similar to your being picked by Morgan to help her later- you are able, you will be competent, and willing to help. that was why she approached you two rather than going for somebody at the bar. she would never admit that, though.
