somebody found out that it was there, but probably did not realize what it was.... your guardians have a tendancy to make themselves known in one way or another when you are in danger. they are behind some of the strange coincidences that happen now and then- such as a convenient vine to swing on, or choosing the right path out of many. i think that the story was that she was trying to help him escape by giving him the knowledge to pick locks. any highly skilled magical entity would be able to see her. after that, it was just a matter of taking Eldan somewhere- because she would follow -and then sealing her to an out-of-the-way area.
